Meet the Team
Dr. Daryl Dunford
Dr. Dunford first experienced the benefits of chiropractic care when he sustained a sports related injury at 12 years of age. In acute pain and unable to walk without assistance, his father introduced him to the family Chiropractor. The incredible relief experienced from the gentle but skillfully applied spinal adjustments left a lasting impression on a young man. Throughout his adolescent and young adult years, chiropractic care played a key role in alleviating pain and facilitating healing of a variety of injuries.
Plagued by asthmatic symptoms from a young age, Dr. Dunford was even more impressed when he was able to reduce and then eliminate asthma medications with ongoing and regular chiropractic care. The science and art of the Chiropractic discipline was fascinating, and as he progressed through his studies at University of Alberta, a passion for helping others experience a better quality of life led him to graduate from Canadian Chiropractic College in 1988. Dr. Dunford considers it a great privilege to be a chiropractor and after 38 years of family practice he still looks forward to Monday mornings!
Throughout the years, he has taken several post graduate courses adding to his skill set in restoring spinal mobility and optimal neurological function for many patients. Having completed a Fellowship in Chiropractic Paediatric care and certification in Webster Technique, Dr. Dunford has been able to share the benefits of chiropractic care with both children and expectant mothers. Among other techniques, certification in ART (Active Release Techniques) has been an effective addition to spinal adjustments, mobilizations and other soft tissue therapies.
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a chiropractor has been caring for such a broad spectrum of patients, many of whom have become friends. Dr. Dunford has successfully treated patients of all ages with chronic pain, athletic injuries, repetitive strains, posture-related problems and a variety of other musculoskeletal complaints (neck, back, shoulder, hip, knee, ankle/foot etc) on a daily basis in his family practice.
On a personal note, Dr. Dunford has lived in Sherwood Park since 1981 when his family moved from Kamloops, British Columbia. He attended the pre-med program at University of Alberta and then spent four years in Toronto while attending Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. Upon returning to the “Hamlet” of Sherwood Park in 1988, he established his first clinic shortly thereafter. He and his lovely wife, Jeannie built their first clinic together in the Glen Allen community and in 1997 they moved Park Place Chiropractic & Massage to the Park Place Professional building adjacent to Sherwood Park Mall. As the practice became more established, Dr. Jason Krause, Dr. Jeff McIntyre, and more recently, Dr. Brian DeGrande joined the team. Dr. Hyacinth Urrutia - Dr of Acupuncture has also proven to be a great asset at Park Place Chiropractic.
A motorcycle accident in 2017 reminded Dr. Dunford what it was like to be a patient. A team including his physician, chiropractor, acupuncturist and physiotherapist were instrumental in his successful recovery. The Dunford family enjoys outdoor activities such as fly fishing, hiking, kayaking, and photography. During the spring/summer months, you may find Dr. Dunford strolling with his wife or jogging on the trails around Sherwood Park early in the mornings.
Dr. Jason Krause
Dr. Jason Krause grew up on a farm west of Stony Plain, Alberta. It didn't take very long to figure out that even though he loved the farm Dr. Krause needed something else for his future. After completing the premedical program here in Edmonton Dr. Krause moved down to Dallas, Texas. There he completed his bachelors degree in anatomy and then his Doctor of Chiropractic degree both from Parker College of Chiropractic in 1999.
In the fall of 1999 Dr. Krause joined with Dr. Dunford and began working in the beautiful and vibrant community of Sherwood Park.
Dr. Krause completed many graduate level chiropractic techniques including: Diversified, Activator, Thompson, Pregnancy and Infant Care, Myofasical Release, Gonstead, S.O.T, Upper Cervical and Rehabilitation.
Over the years since graduation Dr. Krause has continued his education and has completed a fellowship in nutrition, chiropractic clinical neurology, cranial adjusting, and whiplash management. Dr. Krause's passion is working with young children because of their endless energy.
Dr. Jeff McIntyre
Dr. Jeff McIntyre attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto where he obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic. He also achieved certification in Graston Technique at CMCC, and Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University. Previous to that, Dr. McIntyre graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Education Degree. Dr. McIntyre combines Chiropractic, Graston Technique and Medical Acupuncture to provide highly effective individualized treatment programs. A graduate of Bev Facey Composite High, and a long-time resident of Sherwood Park, Dr. McIntyre can often be spotted actively enjoying the many parks and trails in his home community, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Brian DeGrande
Born and raised in Sherwood Park, Dr. Brian DeGrande developed a passion for chiropractic care after witnessing its profound impact on his own family. After his mother suffered a whiplash injury, he saw firsthand how chiropractic treatment, under the care of Dr. Jason Krause, helped her regain function in her arm. This experience ignited his passion for helping others achieve optimal mobility and wellness. Now, 20 years later, he is proud to be working with Dr. Krause and the rest of the staff at Park Place Chiropractic.
Dr. DeGrande earned his Bachelor of Science degree with honours from the University of Alberta and his Doctor of Chiropractic and Master’s in Sports Medicine from the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon. There, he graduated summa cum laude equipping himself with the expertise to support athletes and individuals striving for peak physical performance.
Outside of work, Dr. DeGrande enjoys many hobbies including hockey in the winter and golfing in the summer. He has also recently become the head athletic trainer for the Sherwood Park Knights Hockey Club where he helps the players overcome injuries and return to that game they love.
Dr. DeGrande is now accepting new patients and offers weekend and evening availability.
